Apr 22, 2022

Get the fries on first and prep the burgers and salad whilst they're cooking! To make this meal suitable for low-carb swap out the sweet potato fries for roasted celeriac, cauliflower or broccoli.

For the fries...

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 large sweet potatoes
  • 1/2 tsp dried chilli flakes (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 180C fan. Scrub the sweet potatoes, leaving the skin on, and cut into chips.
  2. Coat in a few tsp of olive oil and place on a lined baking tray.
  3. Season with a little salt and chilli flakes, if using.
  4. Bake in the top of the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, until tender in the middle and crispy on the outside.

For the burgers...

INGREDIENTS

  • 500g minced beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 sprig of fresh thyme leaves, chopped

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. If you have time, gently fry the onion in a pan with some olive oil until soft and allow to cool. If you are pressed for time, use the onions raw.
  2. In a bowl, using your hands, mix the raw minced beef with thyme, onions and salt & pepper.
  3. Shape into equal-sized burgers. You should have 4 good-sized patties.
  4. Season your griddle pan generously with sea salt.
  5. Griddle your burgers for about 3 minutes on each side (or to your preference, longer if you like well-done).
  6. Salt the burgers!
  7. Serve with mayo or coleslaw (optional).

  • Avocado, sliced
