Could it be that the health advice over the last 40 years or so, about saturated fat is wrong? Many experts are now saying "yes" due to new studies emerging.
Obesity levels over the past 40 years specifically since the 'fat is bad' message began, have increased and it is now at a level that has become a huge strain on national health services.
Renowned 'Dr. Michael Mosley' has come out and said "i was wrong - we should be feasting on fat". Like millions of us he believed that 'all saturated fats were bad for us' and so he cut out beef, full fat milk and butter. Because as we were led to believe, they caused weight gain and heart disease. So what's changed?
New studies are now revealing or, failing to find, any convincing evidence that saturated fat is linked to heart disease. There is also evidence that certain cultures who consume high saturated fat diets do not suffer from heart disease and that the diets of these cultures are also low in sugar.
We are told that low-fat diets are the best and healthiest way to lose weight however, evidence suggests otherwise and this advice may actually be having the opposite effect. Eating certain types fat is good for the heart and helps you lose weight.
The American Diabetes Association say "although low-fat high carbohydrate diets are recommended in an effort to reduce the risk of coronary artery disease, the results of short-term studies have shown that these diets can lead to an increased risk of coronary artery disease".
As Jonathan Bailor (author of The Smarter Science of Slim) says, "there is a lot of misconceptions about cholesterol and how the body works". There is an abundance of evidence out there that contradicts what people are being told about fat, cholesterol and weight-loss.
